Osteopathy for Neck & Back Pain
Neck pain and back pain is probably the most common complaint treated by osteopaths. Frequently it is caused by strain of ligaments and muscle tendons.
The pain and stiffness which this causes is very amenable to osteopathic treatment. As well as being able to help to relax the tight muscles and gently relieve the pain in the affected area of the spine, osteopaths will always look for the root of the problem which more often than not is not the site of the pain and lies elsewhere in the spine or other joints of the body.
Osteopaths can also help with pain in many other joints of the body. Common examples are 'tennis elbow', 'frozen shoulder', carpal tunnel syndrome and pain caused by osteoarthritis ('wear and tear') which may affect any joint in the body but very often is most troublesome in the hips, knees and spine.
Although osteopathic treatment cannot reverse this process, it can relieve much of the discomfort associated with it which comes from increased muscle tightness around the affected joint.
